Do you think you could pass your driving test now?

Roughly one in five doubted they have the current driving skills necessary to pass their driving test.

In a recent survey conducted, the results estimated that nearly seven million British drivers believe they would fail their driving test upon retaking it!

Young Driver, which provide driving lessons for 10-17 year olds, conducted this survey on 1000 qualified drivers. Roughly one in five doubted they have the current driving skills necessary to pass their driving test. This figure actually increased with age, peaking at around one quarter for drivers over the age of 65.

The survey also found that around one third of drivers have difficulty parallel parking and one in four say they would rather avoid reversing into a parking bay. These figures seem to be slightly worse for woman drivers. Although this isn’t measuring actual driving ability, but rather just their belief or confidence in their driving or parking ability!

One quarter of all drivers said they would regularly have to park somewhere further away from their destination, in order to find an easier parking space. One that didn’t require as much skill.

One in six drivers admitted that they felt nervous when it came to parking in general, with that figure rising to one in four for younger drivers, (age 18-25).

However it is not only parking that people seem to have issues with, one in six drivers admitted that they struggle to complete a three point turn when necessary. Taking more than three turns to turn their vehicle around.

Either people just undervalue their driving ability, or it there are a lot of drivers on the roads that would not be able to pass their driving test if they had to do it again!
